Time and Tide Photographs by David Tatnall
‘The seashore is always changing.
….. it takes an artist to capture the spirit, the mystery, that essential quality that calls us time and again to walk the shoreline.
David Tatnall’s richly beautiful photographs invite us into the ancient, ever-changing conversation between the land and the sea’.
Philip Ingamells – from the essay Time and Tide.
David Tatnall’s Time and Tide presents twenty-eight hand made silver gelatin photographs made from large format negatives. Photographs of the remote Erith Island in Bass Strait, Antarctica, Cape Conran and derelict jetties in Coiro Bay are amount the subjects presented. His prints are limited edition.
Tatnall’s work is represented in the National Gallery of Victoria, State Library of Victoria and Monash Gallery of Art collections, as well as Australian Embassy in Washington USA.
‘David Tatnall is probably best known as a wilderness photographer, but he’s also a champion of new ways of seeing using old technology’. Amanda Smith. ABC Radio National.
